Craig is finally reunited with Spirit in Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur
02 March 2026

Sector 3’s crew has now convened in Kuala Lumpur. Some familiar faces (Curt, Nick and Tyler) from Sector 2 have returned. They’re now joined by Connell and Craig (that’s me), along with the fantastic film crew of Gregory and Anouck. One notable absence is Nige, who among his many talents specialises in cameo weather reports. He’ll be rejoining the team a little later on the adventure. There was a palpable sense of joy in being reunited with Spirit. Gleaming on the tarmac, she looks ready to continue the adventure.

2 March – Kuala Lumpur overflight

The plan for today was an air-to-air filming flight above Kuala Lumpur. Earlier planning had confirmed that the helicopter platform could safely operate door-off at Spirit’s cruising speed of around 120 knots, but it became clear that its actual limitation was closer to 80 knots. Rather than compromise safety or image quality, the decision was made to cancel the dedicated filming flight.

Despite the disappointment, the team decided not to let the opportunity go to waste. With special authorisation already granted to fly over the city, Spirit took to the skies for a short but memorable overflight. A good opportunity to ensure everything is running smoothly before the longer flights ahead. And take in the stunning views of KL, of course.

3 March – Preparing for Indonesia

With the overflight complete, attention has now turned to preparing Spirit for the next leg of the journey. Supplies have been loaded, systems checked, GPS updated, flight plans filed and fuel confirmed. Spirit is ready and Sector 3 is officially underway. More to follow as the journey continues.
